dovesDad took this picture. Happy first day of dove hunting season!! Camo isn't 100% back in style until deer hunting starts next month, but I don't care. I'll be bustin' it out soon. I've never really dove hunted. I shot a shotgun only once. Dad was gonna teach me. He threw a can up for me to shoot at. I missed it. And I was shocked at the kick. I was prolly 12. I might've fired it twice. I don't remember. But that outing was the only time. Isn't that SAD? I think it is. But who wants to pay for a hunting license when ya don't even know how to shoot properly? Not I. I don't think there are as many doves this year as there were last year. Lotsa White-winged ones. The Asian collared ones must migrate 'cause I don't see any of those around. And I see Mourning doves now and then. And I didn't even know the different kinds just a short time ago. Yessss, I can still learn new things!

I grew up in a hunting family (rural Michigan) but we always had the "if you kill it, then you eat it" rule. Do people eat doves? Well, I guess they did in the Bible...

Yes, they do! But I don't think I ever have. But one of my friends had a dove eatin' party last year.

I guess they'd be just a bit smaller than a Cornish hen. And they probably taste like chicken. :-)
