FiretailHappy kitty. This is my cat, Firetail. I wonder if the neighbor's cat had her kittens yet. I'm thinking she did 'cause I haven't seen her in two days. Her name is Sparky. Maybe I'll have some baby pictures for you soon. We're getting some of our rain today. It's good that it didn't rain yesterday for the track meet. I'm glad the menfolk let me help them move some hurdles. Perhaps I'll do it again on Thursday.

I have something to say. It'd old news, but it makes me nervous that I haven't heard ANYONE else say it. With all this talk of spending cuts "shutting down the government", I'd like to know what IDIOT coined that phrase and that thought line. The government in this country is by the poeple, for the people...blah blah blah (thanks Mr. Lincoln). As long as there are people here who are living and breathing, the government will be functioning. Why why why why WHY is no one saying this? Have you heard someone say it? Did I just miss it? Please tell me that is the case. Even so...come ON people! What are we so afraid of? I'm kind of afraid to ask.

Ohhh... I don't even want to get started it, but I've had it up way past here (see the country coming out?) with people who don't bother to educate themselves on what the media is saying, what others are repeating, and how the whole system doesn't have to go to hell in a hand basket. UGH! You are absolutely right - we are the government, and it seems to be a process of democracy (it has happened in every other democracy) that government breeds more government, and the larger a country gets, the more government there is (see, cause government = people). At any rate, I have to totally disagree with tax cuts for businesses who are shipping overseas (like GE), and the destruction of the rights of the middle class (al-la the Tea Party and destruction of collective bargaining rights) but I don't know how to fix it. :( I don't want to live next to dumb people, you know?

I did a little searching to see if I really WAS missing something, and I found lots of folks talking sense in the comments to news articles, but not one of the media people were talking straight in the actual articles. One person made the comment on the Washington Monthly:

In one sense the government shut down long ago, that is, government by the people shut down long ago.

I like to think that we're not THAT far gone, but maybe I'm just choosing to see what I wanna see. I reckon most folks do. Or else we'd go crazy.
