Cooperton Valley to Cooke County, Warrens Bend, Texas - A life story by Barbara Davis PybasThis is the last of the books by Barbara Davis Pybas that we got in Gainesville at the Art Walk a few months ago. "Cooperton Valley to Cooke County, Warrens Bend, Texas" was published in 2010, and it's Mrs. Pybas' life story. If you want a summary, you can click on the picture. This book is very full of history, most of it local. The stories are all fun and entertaining. They are all written to be read independently, so some of the background is repeated for every story. That makes it a little harder to read it all the way through, but it was still worth it to me. I do wish there was a map in there showing exactly where their original acreage was located, where Camp Howze was in relation to that, where their airstrip was located...Yes, a map would be very cool. But I know the area well enough that I can pretty much figure most of it out myself. We were out that way last week to look at birds. We met some unfriendly duck hunters who didn't know what they were talking about. Anyhow, I'd better get going. There's snow on the ground, and the streets look a little slick. It might end up being a day to stay home, but we shall see.
