Dad & MeYup, we did go camping last weekend. We got there on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) and stayed 'til Saturday afternoon. Our traditional thing when going to Lake Texoma is to stop for fried chicken on the way out. Well, turns out that there are no fried chicken joints open on Turkey Day! We were about to lose hope, but then we saw that the Golden Chick in Whitesboro was open. But when we walked in, the folks behind the counter weren't in their customary uniforms. They explained that for the last 8 years or so, they have been using their store on Thanksgiving to feed those less fortunate and those who may be traveling. Well, we were traveling, so we got us a turkey dinner after all. It was plenty good, and many thanks go out to those good church ladies in Whitesboro.

There were about 18 other riders camped out at Big Mineral last weekend, too. They were cooking turkeys. Apparently they do it every year. Traditions are fun, but I'm glad we broke ours and got out to enjoy nature. Oh, and don't be fooled by the picture...dad didn't camp with us, but he did come out for a ride on Saturday. He had to work on Black Friday. I'm happy to report that I didn't have to go into a single store or fight any traffic on that day. Horray for camping!
